Trainings & Orientation
Ozanam Orientation
Ozanam Orientation is the foundation of Vincentian formation. Tied to a national curriculum, it provides an overview of the historical, spiritual, and practical organization of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul of Seattle | King County.
Led by a team of experienced Vincentians, this half-day training covers the key elements of our ministry for both new and current Vincentians. The orientation offers an opportunity to meet, learn from, and share with your fellow Vincentians. This training is required for new members within the first year of service.
We will cover:
- The Society's heritage and mission
- How we are organized internationally, nationally and locally
- The place of core documents, the Rule and the Manual
- Vincentian spirituality
- The Home Visit, our core ministry
- Causes and conditions of poverty, and
- Efforts for systemic change

Rendu Orientation
Rendu Orientation complements and completes the basic orientation of new members. Seasoned Vincentians are encouraged to participate as a way of experiencing renewal in their Vincentian vocation. This training is required for new members within the first year of service.
This 2.5 hour training focuses on the spirituality of the home visit, including Conference meetings, and awakens our Vincentian spirit of service to our neighbors. Opportunities are provided for reflection, interactive learning, and a practice that will ground our mission in the convictions and spirituality of our founders.
Like Ozanam Orientation, Rendu Orientation is required for new members (within your first year of service) and we welcome and encourage experienced Vincentians to attend as a refresher or renewal and in support of their new conference members.
