The Vincentian Rule states, all SVDP conferences need to be open to understanding and adapting to changing needs of their neighborhoods, their parishes and of the member themselves. All Vincentian groups need on occasion to ask themselves if their procedures and practices are still providing opportunities for the members' spiritual growth and best meeting the needs of those served."
